Archival Research

Wayfinding: Appendices > Research Participant Information > Archival Research

When I contacted Holly Champion about her company, Streamed Shakespeare, I was hoping the group would have a production they were in rehearsals with that I could (virtually) observe as field research. While Streamed Shakespeare was working on a production of Othello, they were actually trying an in-person, onstage show for the first time since the company's pandemic-era founding in 2020. Holly instead offered me access to their Henry IV archival folder, which included rehearsal videos, production planning notes, and marketing materials. It was invaluable to observe the rehearsal process to see how the director and cast navigated tight spaces with Chromakey, and how they used the affordances of Zoom as their backstage area rather than a public-facing option.

You can watch the complete archive of Streamed Shakespeare's work on their YouTube page.
