Technology’s advances have allowed theatre makers to level-up their recordings without needing a separate time to capture the show; instead, the performance can be captured as it unfolds before a theatrical audience, in the theatre space, with no interruption to the flow of the stage performance. Neither performers, in-person audience, nor distanced audience experience disruptions in their emotional immersion, : ‘Thanks to the increased light-sensitivity of digital cameras, combined with a multi-camera setup (a tried-and-tested method of filming live events from chat shows to sports on television), it was finally possible for stage productions to be filmed with hardly any need for adjustments in lighting and make-up’. Several of the tools used for this work are discussed in the Tools section; the dramaturgy of picking, positioning, and editing with these tools is discussed in the following sub-sections.
